Fort Woods Apartments is a historic apartment complex located in the Fort Wood neighborhood of Chattanooga. The complex was built in 1925 as a luxury apartment building for the city’s growing middle class. At the time, the Fort Wood neighborhood was one of the most desirable residential areas in Chattanooga, with tree-lined streets, grand homes, and close proximity to downtown.
The Fort Woods Apartments were designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, with stucco walls, red tile roofs, and ornate ironwork balconies. The building also featured a grand entrance hall with marble floors and a sweeping staircase. The Fort Woods Apartments are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
